Oktoberfest - Florence Nightingale Memorial Hall, Holloway

We love catering for this fun annual fundraiser for Lea Primary School. On the menu this year were special sausages made just for us by Robin Maycock Butchers in Holloway. Thanks to our family connection with this award winning butchers (Helen, head of all things tasty here at Zest, is Robin’s daughter) they made an extra large German sausage/Derbyshire style. Which we served up with sliced potatoes gently cooked in stock, and braised red cabbage. For dessert they enjoyed a delicious Apple Strudel and cream. Hopefully lining their stomachs well for the long night of drinking ahead!

Ashover Village Hall - Wedding Breakfast

On Saturday the 31st of August we had the pleasure of catering for the wedding of Josh and Kat, also known as the new Mr & Mrs Newman. They had their wedding ceremony at Ashover Church, which was followed by a trip to their local pub and a reception at Ashover Villiage Hall, this is where we joined them to supply a wedding breakfast for 110 adults and 5 children. The village hall was beautifully lined by Fishers Marquees https://www.fishermarquees.co.uk/.

A wedding is such a personal celebration it calls for a menu full of your favourite foods. We created a bespoke menu for the couple to share with their guests:

Starter

Sharing Platter:

Mixed Continental meats – salami and parma ham

Stuffed Peppers

Vegetable crudite – sugar snaps and carrot sticks

Hummus

Olives

Fresh figs

Homemade Chicken Liver Pate

Rustic Bread and Butter

Main Course

Traditional Bangers and mustard mash with a rich onion gravy

Using Maycocks butchers sausages http://www.robinmaycockbutchers.co.uk/

Served with

Green Beans

Honey and rosemary glazed Carrots

Red Cabbage and spiced apple

A choice of homemade puddings

Lemon Meringue pie

Sticky Toffee Pudding

White Chocolate and Blueberry Cheesecake

The wedding feast was enjoyed by all and followed by speeches and coffee. Once the party got started and the guests were ready to rest their dancing shoes, we provided a savoury evening buffet for 180. This included (but wasn’t limited to) freshly made sandwiches, sausage rolls, locally sourced pork pie and mini smoked salmon and pea tartlets.

We have to give a shout out to the amazing bride and groom for coming up with a killer theme… Friends! As in the sitcom, not their guests. All the tables were named after episodes e.g 'the one with all the wedding dresses'

A great day and a pleasure to cater. For all enquiries please get in touch via our contact page today.

Alten - Corporate Buffet

Zest were asked to cater for a corporate buffet on Thursday 4th July 2019. Alten, world leaders in engineering and technology consulting, required catering for the opening of their new office on Pride Park in Derby.

Iris, who found our website via our organic Google ranking, requested a cold buffet for 190 people. We put together a menu of smoked salmon tartlets, melon balls and parma ham sticks, mini cheese scones with herby cream cheese and cherry vine tomatoes, sweet tomato and basil bruschetta and homemade scotch eggs. Followed by a sweet menu of chocolate brownies, carrot cake and mini meringues filled with cream and raspberries. We served tea and coffee which were included on cold buffet menu, as well as serving cold drinks provided by the client on the day.

We provided staff for the whole event to lay out the buffet and tidy up throughout the day, before packing up and cleaning down at the end of the food service. It was arranged prior to the event that we would also ensure there were enough staff for drinks service and we hired elements of glasswear that the client couldn’t source elsewhere.

All of the food was handmade using locally sourced ingredients and we made sure to provide an excellent service from food preparation right through to event completion.

“I would like to thank you for our event, everyone really enjoyed the food, you did an amazing job” - Iris, Communication Officer
