Funeral Buffets

It’s not something anyone ever wants to arrange, but we pride ourselves on making the most difficult of days that little bit easier by supplying funeral buffets that are stress free. So we make sure that planning and booking them with us is simple and well communicated. And from timely delivery to impeccable presentation, and tidying up afterwards, we just make sure we do our job really well, so it’s one less thing to worry about. We supplied a few funeral buffets this month, both big and small, and hopefully made awful days just a little bit better.

Corporate Buffet

January has been another busy month of buffets, including a lunch time finger buffet to celebrate a new brand launch at Syntegon in Derby. With their new logo printed onto some tasty biscuits, alongside a tantalising spread of savoury and sweet plate fillers, it wasn’t long before the table was empty, and another hungry crowd were full and happy.

Derbyshire Singers plated supper

We’ve been preparing a delicious plated supper for Derbyshire Singers Christmas concert for many years, and we love putting it together. With over 100 plates to pre-fill with a hearty selection of savoury delights, it’s a large production line. So we crank up the radio with some festive tunes for inspiration and we’re soon filling plates with gusto.

This year’s supper includes smoked salmon and pea tart, home cooked ham and turkey, herb and spring onion potato salad, roast vegetable rice salad and homemade coleslaw. All packed with bags of flavour and served up in generous proportions on our 100% compostable plates and cutlery, making cleaning up easy and environmentally friendly too.

Buffets galore!

It’s a busy couple of weeks in the run up to Christmas, and as well as several weddings, dinner parties and festive lunches, we have lots of beautiful buffets to prepare and deliver.

Our buffets can cater to any number of guests, from a handful, to hundreds. Today’s lovely customers were the Starkholmes Women’s Institute, with a small delivery only finger buffet with lots of sweet and savoury treats.

Their tempting selection included our handcut sandwich platters, homemade sausage rolls, mini quiches, smoked salmon tartlets, mini cheese scones with herby cream cheese, and homemade scotch eggs. For dessert there was a tempting trio of chcolate brownie, mini raspberry meringues and lemon drizzle cake. Delicious! And thankfully it got the full WI approval!

Dinner Party - Ashbourne

Catering for dinner parties is always an absolute pleasure. Creating a mouthwatering menu and then delivering it to perfection with Chef and our fantastic team is catering heaven for us. This week we were in Ashbourne for a Christmas Party with the menu of our dreams:

Menu

Homemade canapes

Seafood Mousse with Prawn and Lobster Bisque Sauce

Fillet Mignon, Fondant Potato, Roast Shallot and Forest Mushrooms with a Red Wine Jus

Trio of desserts - Chocolate Mousse, Raspberry Almond Tart and Meringue

Cheese Board, Coffee and Chocolates

David Nieper Christmas Party for 250 guests - The Post Mill Centre, South Normanton

Great catering is as much about planning as cooking, especially when feeding 250 hungry guests with a choice of two starters, mains and desserts, plus extra vegan/diabetic options. So we were delighted to be asked to cater for the David Nieper Christmas party, allowing us to put into action some military style planning!

With only a very small kitchen on site, we brought all our own equipment, including ovens, warmers and servers, pans, plates and cutlery, plus our own little army of cooks and waiters. All working together to serve up a traditional festive menu, starting with a choice of wholesome homemade Vegetable soup or a homemade Chicken Liver Pate with Brandy and Herbs served with toasted Ciabatta.

Main course was either Topside of Beef, with yorkshire puds and roast potatoes, succulent Turkey Breast, pigs in blankets and stuffing balls, plus all the trimmings, or a delicious vegan tart. For dessert guests could choose from either a scrummy Eton Mess or Christmas Pudding, with additional vegan and diabetic options.

It’s hard work getting every detail right, but so rewarding when it all comes together to make the event a really great night.

Haarlem Mill - Kirsty and Steven's Wedding

We have a wedding or two every week at our lovely venue Haarlem Mill in Wirksworth, where our brides and grooms can dream up their own menus or turn to our catering team for inspiration. Whether they’d love Venison, Vegetarian or full Vegan, we love coming up with the perfect menu to cater to everyone’s favourite tastes.

This week Kirsty and Steven wanted a comforting three course dinner starting with a delicious warmed goats cheese and beetroot salad. They then surprised guests with Chef’s hats, and picked monitors to serve out a scrummy steak and ale ‘Love’ pie with lashings of gravy. And for desert, a sticky toffee pudding, covered in a double blanket of toffee sauce and creamy custard, or a melt in the mouth gluten free brownie. Yummy!

Street Style hot food buffet - Church in the Peak, Matlock

There’s nothing nicer than some hot tasty food on a chilly wet November evening, and we were delighted to be asked to cater for Church in the Peak’s ‘Staycation’ evening social with a delicious menu of street style hot food and side salads. On the menu was slow roasted shoulder of pork in a sticky BBQ sauce, served with a tasty red cabbage in flatbread. Plus spicy chicken and red pepper kebabs with shredded lettuce and mayo, and BBQ beef burgers with fried onions, lettuce, tomato, cheese, ketchup and mustard. Finished off with a tempting choice of creamy raspberry meringues, chocolate eclairs and chocolate and beetroot brownies. Yum! We got some wonderful compliments from this lovely crowd of people.
